Amit Shah's 'Sheesh Mahal' attack on Arvind Kejriwal, follows PM Modi's previous criticism.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, condemning the alleged spending on his official residence.

Addressing a public gathering, Amit Shah narrated an incident: Some children came to meet me at my house. I asked him, what did Arvind Kejriwal do for Delhi? A child said he built a big 'sheesh mahal' for himself. When he entered politics, he used to say that he would neither take a government vehicle nor a bungalow. Today he has built 'Sheesh Mahal' with the money of Delhiites. Kejriwal ji, you have to answer to the people of Delhi.

The statement came after Prime Minister Modi criticised AAP at the inauguration of several development projects in Delhi as a "disaster", which has been the cause of Delhi's woes for the last 10 years. Modi had attacked Kejriwal, saying he could have built a 'sheesh mahal' for himself, but he preferred to build houses for the people.

The BJP has consistently accused Kejriwal of spending unnecessarily and excessively on his official residence. The inventory released by the Public Works Department (PWD) last October mentioned the luxury appliances and renovation of Kejriwal's bungalow.

Reacting to it, Kejriwal termed pm Modi's criticism of the previous day as a personal attack and alleged that the BJP had failed Delhi in the last 10 years. Kejriwal said the BJP has neither a chief ministerial face nor any important issue for the Delhi Assembly elections.

"In 10 years, the BJP has not done a single important thing in Delhi. They had promised permanent housing by 2022 but built only 4,700 houses in five years.

Compare this to AAP's work: 22,000 classrooms, three new universities, and numerous development projects. Kejriwal said.

New Delhi: The BHARATIYA Janata Party (BJP) today released its first list for the Delhi Assembly elections, fielding Parvesh Verma against Kejriwal from The New Delhi constituency, while Ramesh Bidhuri has been fielded from Kalkaji constituency against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
